Bellingham's three free spray parks will open for the summer season on June 15, 2026, running through September 15 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, according to the City of Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department.
The spray parks are located at three city parks spread across Bellingham's neighborhoods: Cordata Park at 4510 Cordata Parkway in the north part of the city, Cornwall Memorial Park at 3424 Meridian Street near the center of town, and Fairhaven Park at 107 Chuckanut Drive North in the south end neighborhood.
All three spray parks are free to the public. No passes, registrations, or reservations are required. Children and families can simply arrive during operating hours and enjoy the water features. The facilities are designed for children of all ages, with sensors and motion-activated jets that respond to kids running through them.
Cornwall Memorial Park's spray area is one of the most visited in the city, set within one of Bellingham's largest green spaces. The park features motion-activated jets, columns, and dome sprayers that activate as children move through the area. Beyond the spray pad, Cornwall Park offers extensive walking trails, a rose garden, open lawn areas, and picnic facilities, making it an easy full-day destination for families who want more than just water play.
Cordata Park on the city's north side serves as the primary recreation hub for Whatcom County's growing northern Bellingham neighborhoods. The park includes a large playground, open lawn areas, and sports facilities alongside the spray pad. It draws a consistent crowd throughout the summer months and offers ample parking for families driving from across the city.
Fairhaven Park, tucked into the historic Fairhaven neighborhood near the south end of Bellingham, rounds out the three locations. Situated at 107 Chuckanut Drive North, it sits within walking distance of the Fairhaven Village with its shops, cafes, and restaurants. The park features 24 nozzles with column and dome sprayers similar to Cornwall Park, set within a forested setting that stays cooler on warmer afternoons. A recent update on summer programming outlined other warm-season resources available to Bellingham families this year.
The spray parks open each year around mid-June, typically aligning with when warmer and drier weather becomes more reliable in Whatcom County. Bellingham's maritime climate makes early June unpredictable, but temperatures by mid-month frequently climb into the 70s and occasionally higher, making water play a practical and popular way to cool off.
Families planning visits are encouraged to bring towels and a change of clothes for younger children. The parks do not have dedicated changing facilities at the spray areas, though restroom facilities are typically available nearby at each location.
