The City of Bellingham is hosting its annual Meet-A-Truck event this afternoon, May 21, from 1 to 3 p.m. outside City Hall at 210 Lottie Street in downtown Bellingham.
The free event lets families climb aboard the heavy equipment that keeps the city operational: street sweepers, dump trucks, maintenance rigs, and vehicles used by the crews who manage Bellingham's roads, storm drains, sewer lines, and water infrastructure. City workers will be on hand to answer questions and talk about what their crews do day-to-day to keep Bellingham's systems functioning.
Meet-A-Truck has become a popular annual tradition for families in the Bellingham area. The event draws a mix of young children who simply love the trucks and older residents who are genuinely curious about city operations. It is one of the more direct ways Bellingham creates connection between its municipal workforce and the community that relies on them.
Beyond the trucks themselves, the event will also feature crafts organized by the Bellingham Public Library, as well as a scavenger hunt for kids and families.
